The Homestead at Wolf Ridge - Tigger's Home Course

Being the first charter member to join (I jumped at the chance to join the club when the announcement was made last year that a championship course was being constructed only 11 minutes from my front door), I, along with my wife and partner Diana (our webmaster), was privileged to receive the first tee time on opening day. We invited Kirk Skebo, a bright young 11 year old to join us. He is the first junior member of the club and an up and coming star in his own right. No divots, no ball marks on the green, no one to wait for. What a great feeling! Although we will not talk about our scores that round, I can truthfully say that we held the club record for a few moments.

Wolf Ridge opened with nine holes and the back nine are already on the drawing board. If the front nine is any indication, this course will grow to be a real gem. The "Wolf" offers four tee boxes with red playing at 2554 yards, whites at 3011, blues at 3330 and the gold's at 3621yards. Until the back nine opens, I go once around on the whites and use the blues on my second round for a grand total of 6311 yards (a good challenge for this old man!).

The highlight of my first season at Wolf Ridge was being involved in the organizing of a local golf tournament (to be held annually) that we call "The Wolf Pack". This year's winner, Allan Coulas from McMaster Lake, had four great rounds to beat the rest of the pack. 

On property at Wolf Ridge is a great practice facility that includes a first class driving range featuring target greens and bunkers, and a massive practice green. A chipping and practice bunker area is in the works. The club manager and C.P.G.A Pro Phil Windle utilizes all facets of the practice facility to provide instruction. 

Located just west of Killaloe, Ontario in the Ottawa Valley the Homestead at Wolf Ridge has become a home away from home - and the course where we can enjoy a relaxing round at between the working golf rounds we do around the country.  For more information on the course visit their website at: www.homesteadgc.com
